Beth Schine, Temple Administrator
Beth has been part of the Beth El community since 1994. She has taught in the religious school, served as interim principal, been an active lay leader, and served on the Board of Directors, including as President. Most recently, Beth held the position of Education Coordinator for four years. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, cooking, and kayaking.
Beth and her wife Pam McArthur have a son, Aaron, who grew up at Beth El, starting in the preschool and graduating with his Siyyum class (12th grade).
Jane Johnstone, Temple Secretary
I am pleased to join the administrative team at Congregation Beth El as your new secretary.
As a practicing artist at ArtSpace Maynard, a longtime resident of West Concord, and a childhood resident of Wayland, I have spent most of my life in the Sudbury River Valley. You’ve probably passed me and my husband Malcolm on our bicycles on many of the area back roads. A nature lover and outdoorswoman, I worked as a landscape designer and at garden centers in the area. I have also worked in the fields of art, publishing, education, technology, and, of course, office work. My most important job has been teaching my adult daughter with profound special needs to blow kisses.
Spiritual always, religious sometimes, I have always sought to find common ground in all spiritual practices and religions and have found that compassion is always a good place to start. I look forward to meeting each of you and supporting you in whatever way I can on your journey at Congregation Beth El.
Carolyn Tobin, Bookkeeper
Carolyn has been the Bookkeeper at Beth El since 2008. Because of the friendly community & family atmosphere of the temple, she has enjoyed being a part of the Beth El staff for the past 9 years.
Carolyn earned her Bachelors degree in Accounting from Fitchburg State University, and a Masters in Accountancy from Bentley College. Outside of work, Carolyn loves spending time with her husband, Tom, and their three teenage sons. Carolyn’s oldest son is in his freshman year at Clemson University, and although never a sports fan herself, Carolyn has recently become a diehard Clemson Tiger’s football team fanatic.
Josimar Pereira, Facility Maintenance
Josimar Pereira, from Minas Gerais, Brazil, has been taking good care of our building and grounds since 2011. He loves big celebrations and the High Holidays at Beth El because he gets to see so many of us together.
Josimar also owns the business K & K Landscape, www.kklandscapecleaning.com.
In his spare time, Josimar likes to play soccer and eat Brazilian barbecue. When you see him, ask him about his favorite restaurants!
