The state plans to spend up to $50 million to build a new women’s prison when incarceration rates are at an all-time low. A coalition of over 100 organizations are supporting MA Bill H1905/S2030 which would place a five-year moratorium on building new prisons and jails. At this session you’ll learn from two activist, highly qualified, and formerly incarcerated women about the realities of the Massachusetts prison system, and what can be done to reduce recidivism and impact the poverty/imprisonment cycle.
