High spirits at Beth El: Scotch tasting

Online pre-Purim Scotch and spirits tasting with Raj Sabharwal

Get in the mood for Purim with an online single-malt whisky and spirits tasting and Beth El fundraiser. We’ll taste a variety of whiskeys from around the world as well as two other spirits, carefully chosen to complement the whisky. Once again the tasting will be facilitated by Raj Sabharwal, a certified Whisky Ambassador and Spirits Educator and founding partner in Glass Revolution Imports, with an introductory teaching on Judaism and alcohol by Rabbi Josh Breindel.

You don’t need to be a scotch aficionado to enjoy the evening. We’ll taste two spirits and six single malts with a range of flavor profiles and cask finishes — accessible to everyone, with the opportunity for even experienced Scotch drinkers to taste some that they may not have tried before.

$65 per tasting kit, payable at registration by March 1. Everyone who registers will receive a tasting kit that will be available for pickup at Beth El the week before. Although the tasting will include a peated whisky, most of the whiskeys will be unpeated. You’ll be able to order bottles afterward. The tasting kits will contain enough for two people if you’re willing to take small sips. You must be 21 years old by the date of the tasting to participate.

Note: You’re welcome to attend even if you do not wish to taste; there’s no charge if you just want to learn. All who register will receive the Zoom link. This program is presented by the Beth El Adult Ed Committee.
