Simchat Torah Celebration

When

Tuesday, September 28, 2021
7:00pm

Given the uniqueness of this season (with all of the festivities and emotions of Lorel’s L’hitra’ot weekend), we have scheduled our Simchat Torah observance for the evening of Tuesday, September 28. This will enable all of us to reflect and catch our breath after the power of the weekend, and then to re-unite with energy and delight.

We have planned our celebration to maintain as many of our traditions as possible, while still taking COVID precautions. We will gather in the sanctuary for a ceremony of taking the scrolls out of the ark. Our musicians will lead a parade from the sanctuary to the outdoors (weather permitting), with our Torah scrolls in the lead. After dancing, we will reconvene in the sanctuary to read from the beginning and end of each book. Finally, we will change our Torah covers and replace the scrolls in the ark.

With an eye on the safety of the community, we will livestream the parts of the celebration that take place in the sanctuary and will provide snacks-to-go.
